Sub-bases And Fills

We produce a range of materials conforming to the specification for Highways Works Series 600 and 800 which are compliant to BS EN 13285 (Unbound mixtures specification) and the relevant requirements of BS EN 13242.

Our most popular products are:

6F5
A well graded coarse granular material with a typical grading envelope of 0/125mm.
This is used as a coarse capping layer to construction levels at layers 150mm.

6F4
A well graded fine granular material typically graded to 0/50mm. Suitable for use as a fine capping layer at layers 150mm and 75mm/

SHW 803 (also known as GSB Type 1 or MOT Type 1) A granular close graded sub-base, typically 0/63mm. When compacted, it is a strong load bearing layer with a flat surface and is used prior to the addition of a surface coating.

Other products are also available such as, Class 1A for general fill, Class C as a Starter Layer, 6I and 6N used as embankment fill materials and Type 3 805 Open Graded.

Drainage Media

A range of products conforming to the specification for Highways Works Series 500, Drainage and Service Ducts are available. These products are compliant to the relevant clauses of BS EN standards BS EN 13242 and 13285.

For bedding, haunching and surrounding of pipes, our range includes;

Coarse aggregates: 4/10mm, 6/10mm, 6/14mm, 10/20mm and 20/40mm

Fine aggregates: 0/2mm, 0/4mm and 0/6mm

All-in aggregates: 0/20mm

For backfilling of trenches and filter drains we can supply;

Type A Material: 0/20mm aggregate (505A)

Type B Material: 20/40mm aggregate (505B)

We also supply a service Trench sand which is our 0/6mm product.

We can provide products suitable for bedding and infill of joints for both standard precast concrete and permeable precast concrete paving.
These products comply with BS EN 7533.

Our 0/4mm CP coarse aggregate is a suitable bedding sand for brick paving, sets and slabs and is compliant with BS EN 7533-3.

We also have a washed 2/4mm grit which, although not a British Standard product is often preferred for use on non-adopted areas.

For permeable precast concrete paving we can supply:

    2/6mm aggregate for use as a bedding layer
  • 4/20mm graded aggregate as a base layer
  • 20/40mm graded aggregate for the sub-base layer.
  • Permeable GSB 805 T:3 Open Graded

Concrete Screed, Mortar and Plastering Sands

We have a wide range of sands available, extending from 0/20mm all-in aggregate for concrete mixes to our 0/2mm FP sand used in the production of mortar for bricklaying, blockwork and rendering. Products comply with BS EN 12620 and BS EN 13139.

MM50: A 0/20mm All-in aggregate, suitable for all standard concrete mixes up to C30 ST3

SN04: 0/20mm concrete sand, a lower grade mix for lower strength concrete

SM20: 0/4mm medium sand for use as a medium screed mix and also for blending with a 4/20mm aggregate to produce an all purpose concrete mix.

SA03: 0/2 category 1 sand specially graded for use as a fine screed mix.
SA04: 0/2 FP sand used in the production of mortar for bricklaying and blockwork. It is also a suitable material for rendering with options for teroline (rough casting) and spare dashing, giving a smooth finish to walls.

These products all comply with BS EN 12620:2002 + A1:2008 -Aggregates for Concrete and BS EN 13139:2002 - Aggregates for Mortar where applicable.

Our walling stone is available in 2 size ranges, 100/150mm and 150/450mm, the product is an angular non uniform graded clean stone for natural masonry walling.
